Why West Little Rock?

Generally, everything west of Interstate 430 is considered West Little Rock. It’s a large section of Little Rock built around the main streets of Cantrell Road and Chenal Parkway. This area is popular among families and is known for gated communities, spaciously planned neighborhoods, thriving retail centers and a multitude of recreational options. 

Green Spaces

There are too many to list them all separately, but West Little Rock is dotted with parks, green spaces, bike trails, golf courses, and playgrounds. There’s easy access to the Little Maumelle River, Pinnacle Mountain, and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. If you’re looking for biking trails along the river, wooded walks, or a plot to grow something in the community gardens you’re right next to Two Rivers Park! 

Shopping

If you hate having to drive 30 minutes to the nearest grocery store or boutique, West Little Rock is the place for you. All the big box retailers – Barnes & Nble, PetSmart, Home Depot, etc. – line the streets of Chenal. And if you’re looking for trendy or gourmet organic fare West Little Rock is home to the only Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in the Little Rock area!

Looking for a more boutique vibe? No problem – check out Pleasant Ridge Town Center of Cantrell. Beyond Cotton, Scarlet, and Cobblestone & Vine are some of our favorites. There’s also a Belk if you’re looking for a new department store.

Night Life

West Little Rock is also home to a hopping nightlife and there are several must-see (and be seen!) places to check out. If you want a cozy dive for a beer and a chat with the locals, Khalil’s Pub and Grill is the place for you! They Karaoke every Tuesday! (Just be warned, it is a smoking bar.) And don’t leave without riding the mustache shaped teeter-totter! It’s a local classic.

If you’re more in the mood for craft cocktails and upscale starters, head to Petit and Keet. They’ve got artisanal cheese, elevated shrimp and grits, and a killer list of house-designed cocktails. Perfect for a young professionals meet-up or a first date! It’s consistently named in the “Best Bars in Little Rock” awards. 

Another great watering hole is Thirst N’ Howl Bar and Grill (named after Thurston Howl in Gilligan’s Island – you know, the snotty rich guy) Drink a beer with your buds in a casual atmosphere – live music every Wednesday through Saturday! 

The Pantry

The Pantry is a Czech and German-inspired bistro run by chef Tomas Bohm. Open from 11 am till midnight Monday through Saturday it is a MUST visit for apps, dinner, and late-night drinks. The bacon-wrapped dates are divine. The house-made ricotta is to die for. Not convinced? They’ve won “Best Cheesecake” for their Creme Bruleed Cheesecake since they opened. Featuring a stunning and tasty menu of house-made soups, brats, sandwiches, burgers, lasagna, and more, you will not be disappointed.
