4 Things You Won’t Want To Miss Living In Central Arkansas

September 20, 2019

Central Arkansas has so much for residents and visitors to discover. Attractions are scattered throughout Little Rock so every neighborhood has something fun and exciting to offer residents.

These four attractions are constantly evolving to highlight Little Rock’s growth and history. They give residents and visitors a chance to appreciate the history that has made Little Rock the thriving city it is today.

Heifer Village

Check out one of Little Rock’s most popular, not-for-profit attractions. Heifer Village is Heifer International’s education center. Visitors can learn about world hunger and Heifer’s efforts to end it. There is always something to do. From guided tours to events and hands-on exhibits, this attraction is a favorite for locals and out-of-town visitors.

Heifer designed this cultural center to inspire action. Visitors can learn more about how world hunger can be solved and even find volunteer opportunities to help.

This is a top recommendation for central Arkansas residents who have out-of-state visitors. Heifer Village has hands-on exhibits for kids, tours for visitors to explore the building’s fascinating, eco-friendly architectural design, and good food at Cafe@Heifer.

River Market District

The River Market District has something for everyone. Live music. Good food. Eclectic shopping. A bridge with changing, multi-colored LED lights.

If you are there in the daytime, you might catch the central Arkansas farmer’s market. Vendors offer shoppers a wide selection of fresh produce. Shoppers will also find handmade arts and crafts made by local artists. – Dogs are welcome!

In the summer, after the hot sun goes down, residents can stop by for a movie in the park. The River Market District uses the First Security Amphitheatre (usually used for concerts) to show movies to an audience relaxing on the grassy riverbank.

This stands for “South on Main”. It refers to a neighborhood division of main street that has undergone some serious revitalization since being cut off from the rest of the downtown area by a major freeway.

Things looked bleak at first, but now you’ll discover a self-described “part historic, part hipster-heaven.” This is a great neighborhood for residents looking to be near all of Little Rock’s hot spots.

It is close to cultural landmarks, the Clinton Presidential Library, and Little Rock’s Central High School.

The Arkansas River Trail System

The natural state wouldn’t be complete without a gorgeous trail system allowing visitors and residents to explore all there is to see. The Arkansas River Trail System is 88 miles of trails that go by beautiful landscapes, landmarks, parks, museums, and other top attractions in Arkansas.

This group of trails is popular among cyclists, joggers, dog owners, bird watchers, roller skaters, and so much more. You’ll find the most popular sections of these trails running by the Clinton Presidential Library, the River Market, Heifer Village, and Little Rock’s famous Big Dam Bridge.
