1. Mornings aren’t magic.

Early mornings are not the key to having a productive day. That doesn’t mean you should lay in bed, overwhelmed with all there is to do, scrolling through your phone—we’ve all been there.

Tune into your body’s clock. Night owls are very productive. If you are naturally an early bird, take advantage of that. If you are a permanently exhausted pigeon, you need to find a way to get better sleep. Mornings might not be magic, but a good night’s sleep sure is.

 

2.  You only have so much decision-making energy in a day.

Decisions are difficult. Eliminating the little decisions you make throughout the day—like what to wear, what to eat, and more—will save your decision-making energy for the more important decisions. Your nightly routine should include setting out what you want to wear the next day, maybe packing a lunch, and making sure you have the groceries you need for breakfast.

This way you won’t waste all your decision-making energy trying to get out the door.

 

3. Don’t neglect self-care.

Self-care is not a waste of time. If you neglect to take care of your body’s needs, those needs will come back to haunt you. Here are a few things you can do to make self-care part of your routine.

  • Always carry around a water bottle. You know hydration is important. Help yourself drink more by always having a convenient source of water.
